CRYPTOGRAPHY

Tweet Cryptography is a mechanism for securing data, specifically data that is transmitted
across an open channel. Historically, privacy was the main use of cryptography.
Messages were concealed or altered in some way before delivery, with the recipient of
the message knowing how to decipher the concealed message.
Today, cryptography is a critical technology ensuring data privacy in business and
government applications. The different cryptographic methods available provide the
following functionality:
• Access control
• Authentication
• Non-repudiation
• Data confidentiality
• Data integrity.
